I don't quite get it, d00d. You buy a bunch of silver at a high price, it goes down for a couple weeks, and you freak out. It goes back up some and you sell first chance, shaken to the core. Then it and gold go down to 15/855 and you post about gold being unreliable and weak. And now they're too expensive again? Why didn't you just hang onto your silver, or rebuy when it was cheaper?

Gotta try for more than a 1-day perspective, man. Less reactive, more steady helm. :s9:

Bought 1 oz. two weeks ago; ordered two 1 oz. Plat Eagles on 1/14 from the Mint. With the rise today I fully expect that order to move from in stock/reserved to cancelled.

I sold one box of silver at a loss, and 2 at no loss or profit. the reason I say gold is too expensive is that I dont see it going higher than this, but what do I know.

I'll be buying, only in smaller increments, and will continue all the way up.
Hopefully we'll be down a bit for the Long Beach show in three weeks.
No one epected Rhodium to go from $300 and change to $7,000 in just four years either.

yes, some 1/10 fractional gold. $92.9, should be enough to push us over a 1000 anyway. :bull-buddy-icon:

Same here, but only smaller coins.

I'm sticking to the plan...regular buying regardless of price. Higher POG just means my FRNs are depreciating more & more...all the more reason to convert to REAL money.

Same here, I buy 2x a month when I get my paycheck. Usually I can get a GAE or Krug, but soon may have to drop down to the fractionals.

Re: Anyone buying Gold at these prices?

I am sticking to my plan too.........

I've said for two years - buy all the gold (and some silver) you can while you can afford it.........cause one day it will go up so much you can't afford it anymore.........then move over and continue buying silver, which will not be nearly as expensive as gold.

Its worked well for me.........

I will still buy an ounce or fractional of gold now and then.......but only when I get lucky enough to have a windfall.

Eventually the ratio will drop, or the economy change, and I will transfer the majority of the silver into gold.

Gold is a currency of Kings. They can afford to buy anyone out for 3k or less. Look at Platinum. That is EMP money.

Re: Anyone buying Gold at these prices?

Don't look at the price you pay. Just look at the OUNCES you own. And yes, where else would you put it?

I buy on drops, keep averaging in, a few oz. at a time. Also keep cash ready for a larger $100 - $200 correction when I will be many oz. BUT if it goes higher before it corrects and the correction low isn't as low as today's prices, I'm okay, since I've been averaging in.

BTW, you must be selling at quite a loss after 28% capital gains? Yuck.

Silver Sword 01-26-2008 04:28 PM

Re: Anyone buying Gold at these prices?

I am buying. I have bought every month since 2001, and thus far it has paid off. Once again, it is the question of fundamentals. I believe there are enormous pressure forcing gold and silver up. I may be wrong, but it is what I believe. We shall see.

I'm not a king so I dont waste little money for small amounts of Gold. Silver is the place to be. Its equal to 2 tubs of popcorn, with butter, at AMC theaters.

Since a gain indicates the price went up, it's impossibe to sustain losses when selling, even with paying 28%. You still get 72 cents for every dollar increase in price over the purchase price. It should be 100, I know, but the fact remains you don't lose.

That's kind of the way I am looking at it and trying to convince family to think that way.
I convinced a family member to buy $10 MS61 & 62 Libs a few years ago. He over paid and I wish I knew better back then as I would have steered him to GE's. Oh well, he has them in his possesion and his $20 Libs and St. G's are doing well. Now the work is to get him to hold onto them and possibly buy more.

Me I don't have a large enough income to buy PM's now. I could swing some fractional GE's or SE's but I've been buying stuff like wool clothing, motor oil, oil filters, ammunition, sneakers, boots, wool blankets, basic tools, etc. Pretty much I'm stocking up on stuff I've needed or will need in the future.

Bought $4.10 face of 90% for 7.5x face at an auction. Bought a 1/4 ounce GAE and a 10 ounce poured Englehard bar for 230 and 165 each respectively at a gun show. All purchases were on Sat.

That is the best way to buy. Slow and steady wins the race. I'm going to a coin show in Vegas in a few weeks. I hope the prices go down a little bit before then.

half price compared to 2009!

On FRIDAY GATA runs their FULL PAGE WALL STREET JOURNAL add about:

"Where has all our AMERICAN gold gone you big government crooks!"

261 million ounces are in controversy - my guess 50% to 75% is long gone through the London Metals scheme to BOOST the US dollar under Clinton-Rubin-Summers big three crooks.

Expect a huge rise in gold and a congressional investigation - I'm writing the California Senators and Congressmen after the AD hits.

I'd laugh if one of presidental "RUNEES" goes to Ft. Knox on a PHOTO OP!

Hillary where are you?

Meantime my bumber sticker says:

Monica Lewinsky's Ex-Boyfriend's Wife for PRESIDENT!

Re: Anyone buying Gold at these prices?

Ludwig von Mises wrote that in the beginning stages of the 'crack-up boom', there will still be individuals unaware of central bank-induced inflation, and that these people still expect prices to go down...

Let's be clear: nominal gold prices will NEVER go down significantly. Unless social security is abolished, Medicare cut back, bread and circuses downsized, the silly "Wars agains Whatever" stopped and the deficits paid back.

I was buying up until last week...liberty head double eagles were costing me $930-$1030. (Of course, at those prices I was only buying physical gold.) But they are probably right...gold is still a bargain at these prices IF you plan to store wealth in it. If you are only trying to "invest" in gold to make a paper dollar profit, you may also succeed, but all you'll get is a pile of paper...:D

Hey, I do what I can with limited resources, but I ain't sellin none!

I live in France and hold some Swiss Francs...as of today 2nd Feb 2007, a 20 Swiss Franc coin costs 114 Euros, the Euro/Dollar exchange rate is 1.48 so in dollars it costs about $168...in my opinion it's a good deal then coz u've paid $158... because Gold would probably touch three figures within two months...

cheers
Ahmad

No one had to stalk you! You put it right out there like a daily soap opera.

Friend, the majority of us went out of our way to try and keep you focused on the bigger picture.

You were exposed to over a 100 years of accumulated experience and knowledge.

At this point, I really don't think you are ready for physical PM's.

Holding physical, is exactly that. HOLDING PHYSICAL.

If you want to try to make a quick buck, trade paper.

But you must remember two important things:

1) ALL Paper is just that. PAPER.

2) If you don't hold it (physical). You don't own it.

I for one went out of my way to help you understand physical PM's.

I continued to encourage you. I like some of the others had already been through what you were going through, we made our mistakes (and here I think is the difference).

We learned from those mistakes.

You are way too wound up and impatient.

My Lord, my teen aged Granddaughter seems to have more patients (and she thinks her cell phone is broken if it doesn't ring with in 5 minutes!)

Son, you need to sit back, take a deep breath and ask yourself if you really have the sand for this.

If you want to protect your hard earned money, you're going to have to learn to sit on your purchases.

Just like I had suggested to you when you were freekin' out about your Green Boxes.

I told you to stash them away and forget about them.

If you are buying PM's with money that you know you'll need in the next 6 months or so, DON'T.

Physical PM's are for the long term. You just happened to jump in when there was a lot of action going on.

Times are different now. There are elements effecting PM's that have not been in play for some time.

So please (for the sake of those of us who sincerely tried to help you), CHOOSE A GAME PLAN and STICK WITH IT.

Believe it or not, we really do want to see you succeed.

But you do seem to be your worse enemy.

Maranatha,
